Okay, I was typing a previous post when I saw an TV AD for Long John Silver's NEW Fish Taco, sure you can try it for free on 7/14/09 until 2:00pm.

Come-on man! Leave Tacos to Tacobell! MC Donnald's is making Tacos and Taco-wraps. Long John Silver's is starting on the Taco scene, and that leaves Burger King that [hopefully] will never to Tacos [In the USA]

Okay, this just shows how hot the Equator must be. All of the Spaniards are moving north.

With all this stuff happening I ask one question; WHY THE HELL ISN'T SPANISH A MAJOR LANGUAGE IN AMERICAN ACADEMICS!? I mean, look at all of the Spanish people moving in here!! EAST COAST!! WAKE THE F*** UP!!

Well...what do you think about Fast Food Places selling Taco Products and entering Taco Bell's thing?

 

They're the foreigners so why the hell should we have to learn their language? Honestly, if the foreigners live in the US and aren't willing to at least try and learn the national language then the foreigners should kindly get the fuck out of my country.

 

The increase in popularity of a certain food is completely independent from the increase in population of those from Spanish-speaking backgrounds. Taco Bell is Americanized completely.

Also, lmao at all the stereotypes you guys are making. Tacos in Mexico are SO much different then the ones we have. Even quesedillas and stuff. It's different flavors all around. It's like going to Italy and having pizza there, or spaghetti. It's very different.

I don't know why the US is not a bilingual country, the south is almost built of Spaniards. California and near there were even founded by the Spanish if I remember correctly. Eh, whatever, if it were bilingual it'll probably be the same way Canada is bilingual too. Only small town people and Quebecois speaks french. No one else.

Also if the US were bilingual, you'd have spanish writing on the other side on every product, just like in Canada. Everything is written in English AND French.

I probably know more about the US then most Americans know Canada. Who's Canada's first prime minister, without looking on Google?

Although it seems a little off topic to me, I agree 100%-while my hertitage isn't 100% aussie, there are people here that wouldn't know a word of english-and still live great lives...



I hate that fact-it's times like that that make you wish they had more strict immigration policies...


Hell-here's a fact for you all to know since we are talking about fast food...



In fastfood in western countries-workers can only speak english-understandable-they may slag them in another language while customers are present...


Or they accuse the workers-what ever comes first-however stores who have more immigrat workers or overseas students tend to ignore that rule-my boss was not born in australia, and thus relaxed the company rule-I constantly told co-workers that bercause of what can happen if a customer spoke up!




Anyway, back on topic, it's a money making gimmick-kfc had kababs in australia, and while nice, seemed out of place...

The entire "taco industry" you're making out to be there is entirely corporate, anyways. It has nothing to do with Mexicans, or the Spanish in general. Just good ol' corporate America making a quick buck. Nothing to see here, folks.

For those living in Canada: the French technically got there first, then the 7 year war came along (can't remember what it was, grade 7 history here ), and the English took over. Naturally, the French population were pissed off to begin with, and so they felt they deserved at least some recognition in the form of national language. Try living in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec (the East coast). French heritage is quite thick there. If you live in fucking Toronto or something like that, OF COURSE you're going to think it's useless -.-

 

There's alot of them in America, most Fast Food places have them, ask TirithRR

I agree to a certain extent. Alberta is one of the biggest collection of french people in Canada beside Quebec apparently, yet when I go into Edmonton (I do a lot) I hear absolutely no french. It's weird, I see more Punjab people than english and white people, yeah I don't mind, but in Edmonton learning French is actually almost useless, you'd never speak it. Ever. So why learn it there? Why not just learn punjab?

I live in a small town where I have to speak french everyday. I like it. :>

 

But the post read why didn't american academic made spanish language the major language, and other yell that him that should learn english and vice versa.
