Hey did you notice on Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy and all other games like that, if you leave the controler alone he goes to sleep? But watch more. He not only sits down, he rolles over and goes into a nice snoring slumber. On Super Mario 64 when he lies down, after about 60 snores, you can hear him say: "Night night! Raveoli, aaah spagehti... Aaaah muma mia!"
Those are what you normally call a standby/wait animation. With newer games these are so detailed (or even ludicrous) such as what you cited that it often is rewarding to find a funny one like you did.
I remember in Perfect Dark on N64 if you waited around particular people they would say some funny shit, stuff like "Not now Joanna…","Don't you have some place else to be?". Usually telling her to piss off.
