Super Mario Advance 4 - super maro bros 3

I'm using the Visual Boy Advance Emulator v 1.8.0, the final version that was released.
I downloaded the Super Mario Advance 4 - super maro bros 3 (U) ROM from Romulation and tried to play it.
The preloader didn't come on; the only thing that did was the "GAMEBOY PLAYER" thing and after that, I got a black screen with "YOUR SAVED DATA IS CORRUPTED." in yellow and white text.
How do I fix this?

 

Change the save type accordingly in VBA.

After following the instruction carefully, make sure you delete the previous .sav file VisualBoyAdvance created when you first tried loading the game because VisualBoyAdvance automatically creates a .sav file to any game as required the first time you try to load a game, regardless if you actually saved in game or not, otherwise it will still mess up your game

OK I just edited that thread of mine again so it won't mislead people into thinking it's meant for solving only Pokemon related issues & I added two new things I discovered along the way
