I'm in the philippines with 512 kbps speed, and i finish downloads in..five through twenty minutes, I see no problem...
That's exactly the point, not everyone is in the same place so the speed will vary depending on your ISP and location, we can't bring good speeds to everyone without enormous costs, and frankly we're barely making enough as it is.

if download speed is really slow, just try using some download manager, that should help, although i can't figure out why most people i know of don use download manager and complains of file timing out -_-
