Idea: Create a sub forum in the Nintendo sub forum of gaming.

Why: People love discussing Pokemon and personally, I wish that it had it's own forum so that people that don't like it, or people who would like to discuss it more in depth can do it in a setting designed for it. While it would make me happy personally, I'm sure that others feel the same as I do.

    Thank you.

nope, too many levels of subforum screw with our search engine ranking.

Personally, I think this is a great idea. In the first ten minutes of actually going through these forums, I have seen at least 8 recent topics relating to Pokemon.

Supposedly, there is a "new" monster in HG/SS which may be hinting at a 5th generation (it could just be a new form of an existing one). Even if they stop producing newer games after these remakes, people won't stop playing them any time soon. The fan base is still large enough to keep the game going strong for a long time between those who have been playing since the 90's, early 2000's and those who have only begun to experience the games.

    It's a shame really...

On another LARGE site which I won't disclose here, they have it all set up...

Now, we can forget a fourm dedicated to just pokemon chat-but something just for battles and trades (as ethier combined or seperate forums)

Prehaps I can do my bazaar once more with real shiny clones and ho-oh trades :) (all ligit and freashly cloned)!

If not for my current dis-interest in pokemon (until the next remakes come out) I would proceed with that site, despite the fact that being a world wide side, opens it up to scams and lyers (many a fake shiny in return for a real clone :( )

Would another fourm-just one (an all in one) do so much damage?

After that you can make a request rule of NO MORE!

Just one under the banner of "pokemon online trades and battles" in the same format as the trade station, but without the sub fourms ie psx, nintendo, etc...

I think a perfect sacrifice is to not seperate hacked, ligit, trades and battles-clans forming can be discussed else where eh?

(provided that users tell us what it is and not letting us guess and get scammed :( )

It would do a lot of damage. It's not the number of forums thats the issue, but how many levels deep they are nested. Google can only index to so many levels deep, and beyond that the content does not count towards our search engine ranking.

...hrm, to be honest, I didn't understand this answer, all I know is, it's not the amount of fourms that can damage the site's runing...

Ok I had another but I'm preety sure no one wants to convert whatever the most dead thread to one purly for pokemon (knowing my luck it would be the trade station :( )

Enough with the yellow Electric Rat already sheesh :p

Just kidding, anyway most of the Pokemon threads are safely nestled in the Nintendo section of the gaming lounge so there's actually no need to set up a sub forum for it :)

    this shouldn't be done;the reason?
what if i said for example:why is there a forum for pokemon and there isn't for y game?

    dat just wouldn't be fair

sorry for bumping this old thread, i was going to suggest one of this when i saw this thread using the search button. i think there are way too many pokemon threads out here and i agree that they should have some kind of separate section like child boards or a sub forum under nintendo. sorry about this. anyway just a suggestion ^-^

    I'm going to have to agree with this, since this is mostly NDS talk and Pokemon is one of the biggest handheld series, it could happen. I'd like to help out with that. (;
But since this is like a ROM/Emulator site, you wouldn't want it to more focused on Pokemon than the main reason.

Seph should change the focus of the site. Instead of Romulation, it should be Pokelation.

And then you could stop hosting Roms.

Perhaps a solution would be to just have an additional child board in gaming lounge (as opposed to a child board of Nintendo)?

Here's an idea! We close and redirect threads that are the exact same thing as something posted in the last couple of months instead of having like five different Pokemon Black and White threads going at once! Maybe, just maybe, the idiots who make carbon copy threads will get the message!

I agree. This takes care of both the NDS part of the forum and the Romline Gamers part, where the majority of the threads are. If you must break them down into sub-sub sections, you could break it down into general, (like discussion, leave theorymon and RMTs in the second section) and anything online (from trading/battling/FC exchange/giveaway threads/etc.)

Look at marriland for a good layout of how it's supposed to go. It works out quite well.

With sub-sub sections, we can create one official stickied battling thread, one stickied trading thread (not giveaway), one stickied FC exchange, one stickied B&W thread, but leave all of the same asked technical help questions with R4s and crap in the technical help sections with a stickied thread.

What I think they (meaning Romulation mods) should do is just hand out warnings to people that don't bother to look at previous threads before posting a new one, and obviously lock the thread. A neat feature would be to do what Suis said, except put the redirection link ahead of the original post.

What WE should do is either point out that it's the 9000th time someone's made a damn topic about the subject, be a little crass about it, or simply provide the mods a reason to lock the thread, hitting the report button, derailing the topic, whatever floats your boat.

The simplest solution for any ONE member to do is to simply NOT comment at all in a duplicate topic, besides saying that this is a duplicate topic. However, it is MUCH harder to pull off with a lot of people. Even the What's Your Favorite Pokemon threads are getting old. We had one that was 6 or so pages long, established way back, and then we have 2 newer topics barely hitting 2 pages asking the same thing...

or you could start up a karma system for the idiots that can't read, and ban them a certain number of days/weeks based on how much negative karma they have.
