Suggest Some Standalone Graphic Novels

    I've only mostly read comics online but I want to start buying but most of them are a lot, like issues wise so I was wondering if you guys can suggest some very nice standalone graphic novels (single issues). My friends recommend Watchmen any other recommendations would be nice.

    Other comics I read to give a point of reference:
    Fables
    Wanted
    Sin City
    Y The Last Man
    Umbrella Academy
    Scott Pilgrim
    Marvel 1602
    Sandman
    and other Marvel and DC comics like Batman and X-Men
