Stuck (literally) in Threads of Fate

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I don't know what the problem is exactly, whether it's the game or the emulator I'm running on, so I didn't know where to put this exactly.

Anyway, I'm trying to play threads of fate, but at the very beginning of the game, where you enter the forest and you have to jump over the first tree stump, you get "stuck" there and can't go any further. You can't even go back. Once you get on it, you're stuck there and can't go anywhere else.

I've tried simply jumping past it in an attempt to get around this problem, but there seems to be an invisible barrier that doesn't let me do that.

Is it a bad dump? I've had the same problem when I downloaded the game from another ROM/ISO site. Or could there be a trick to the game I just don't know?

Or is it the emulator I'm running it on? I use PSXfin. Should I be using something else?

 

It's highly unlikely it's the ISO that is the problem. Use ePSXe as the emulator.
