I know I'm late to the party, but I've always assumed that the 3DS would be region-free like its DS predecessors. I live in Japan and would like to get the 3DS someday (soon, I hope(d)..) I play most of my games in the English version, though sometimes I play the Japanese ones as well. I mainly play in English though. Region lock is a deal-breaker. On the plus side, I can read and understand Japanese, so it's not like playing Japanese games is a total handicap. On the other hand, I want to concentrate on the game itself when I'm playing and not have to use more brain cells just to filter the text and decode the meaning. The worst thing though would be playing Pokemon in Japanese. I don't want to memorize Pokemon names, items, and movesets all over again in Japanese! Buying a foreign unit and importing all games would be terribly expensive, however. Argh!!! Is there a way around this!??! Hackers, please hurry up! :'(
For the online store aspect of it. just change your region to Europe or America, problem solved. As for the actual games, i don't know at least you get your games like 9 years before the rest of the world does, even though it is Japanese.
Oh, I didn't know you could do that on the online store. So it works like the PSN store? But they wouldn't have Super Mario or Zelda in there would they?
lol. I kinda want a NTSC-J 3DS. So I came play "Jump Super Ultimate Stars Attack!!" Or what ever theyre going to call it when its released ahaha.
