spyware, malware, viruses anyone?

I'm not sure where to put this thread.

I tried downloading from here last week and I started to get multiple pop-ups. I don't know where they're coming from and romulation.net was the only place I was downloading anything from. I ran Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware and it came up with a bunch of malware, spyware, etc, all of which it was able to delete except 2 (Smitfraude-C and Virtumonde). If spyware, malware, virus, etc is not coming from this site, then where else would I be getting them from since I was only downloading from romulation.net?

I'm also posting to see if anyone else is having the same problem as me.

The pop up ads will most definitely add cookies which will be identified as tracking cookies. We do not allow the ad agency to serve pop ups with active-x dialogues, virii or malware. That's not to say it won't happen, some clients of our ad company abuse their service and add them anyway. When this is found out they are disabled.

We will never knowingly include any malware, virii or other badware on our site.

thanks for the reply. I know you guys wouldn't purposely add malware, spyware, etc.

I love and respect this website, but since i've only been visiting the download page and no other websites or downloads while I'm in the download section, I suspect that they are coming from somewhere within this site. I was more hoping to bring it to you guys' attention so that if there is an ad that is causing this, you guys would be able to do remedy it and also to bring it to other members' attention so that they're careful, too.

In the meantime, is there anything I could do to prevent this? I would still love to download from this site, but it's happened twice already (once last week, and after I fixed everything, it happened again yesterday) and I am now afraid to download anything.

Not much we can do, if we remove the ads we won't make any money and we won't be able to pay the $698 monthly server bill.

The only thing there is to do about it is to buy a premium membership, our hands are tied down sadly. It's either this or no site at all.

Google for and download Javacool Spywareblaster. It is a program that helps prevent malware from installing itself.
