Okay,I don't have sound on my laptop, and it's probably due to me not having the right drivers. But how do I find out what brand my sound card is? I've tried looking in device manager, but it didn't work. There isn't any place to change my sound at all. It happened after I formatted it.

Dr. Hardware 2009 will tell you, if the laptop even has sound, which it may not.

But can the free trial do me any good? It looks severely complicated.

yes, the free trial will do everything you need. the tab you are interested in is the 'PCI bus' tab on the 'hardware' page
