SoulSilver/DeSmuME weirdness, part 2: blackout on completing Sprout Tower

I just completed Sprout Tower in SoulSilver, and was feeling proud until the upper screen went pitch black. (Only the upper screen display malfunctioned; the lower half continued working normally.) Because I use DeSmuME (version 0.9.8 for WinXP) to play games from Gen IV or later, I wonder whether the blackout came from a compatibility problem. Unfortunately, my membership here is too new for me to attach a savefile; you can download a RAR of my latest DeSmuME save here instead, if you'd like to do your own test run.

 

Thank you for explaining the policy here; I did wonder why the board referred to attachment settings when there was no attachment option. Hopefully, I didn't break any rules linking to my savefile on a sharing site....
