Sorry to ask this but ...

I'm considering a NDS lite. but the only cart available here is R4 SDHC Should I go for it? (Please no buying on-line options I can't do that)? and if I get it what kernel should I use for the least problems? Please help. I need your opinion because the resellers have no clue what they are selling.

 

If you get it, check at http://www.linfoxdomain.com/ds/ and use the latest kernel/firmware You should be okay with the SDHC I guess.

 

I think most of the newer flashcarts are capable of using SDHC I know M3 Real and CycloDS does.

Everyone puts the R4 cards down and say they are old news, but they are not expensive and since so many people have or have had them , there is a lot of information and support for them. we have 10 gigs of games that work on them. there are only a handle that have problems and I haven't found they are that important and many have patched them, but I just move on with over 350 other games to choose from that we know work. We have 5 R4's and 1 acekard2. I just received one yesterday for a b-day gift. You'll be fine.

 

Yes i agree. They are so critisized jsut because the developers have quit and all the fakes and clones out there. Ive gone through two r4's in the past (they broke) and i have over 3 gig of games. As herzcp said, you'll do fine.

 

I just got it, the reseller has already added some games to it and its works fine. Thanks a lot for the help and I will ask questions if needed. After messing with more tricky games (like Square Enix titles)

 

Well ... eh.... question time. I can't seem to find the right software for my R4 SDHC. although the box states a website. none of the versions on it works ( I get the infamous loading screen) Luckily i had backed up the old software so now it works, I even tried some at the site you gave me eariler but still, it refuses to work with any newer firmware. All the games I got worked fine so far but I can't seem to run (Zelda PH) I get either a white screen or black screen. I already searched the forums so plz help.

Edit :I managed to run Zelda. It seems like some games run from different versions (like if "U" doesn't work than "E" would and so on).
My clone card is R4 advance and it seems their site vanished in thin air. (http://www.r4ds-a.com/)

 

cyclo ds works on nds lite. Its great

 

I know it's great, but buying online isn't an option and we only have R4 Advance here.

 

Hey some game you have to patch if they dont work take a look in tutorials

And with the firmware what do you mean its loading.


Did you delete everything off your card and then put in the new firmware properly or what more info please...

 

Don't worry about the firmware I will fix that later. I won't do anything because I don't want to mess around anthing until my sister is done with pokemon platinum.

 

I never thought I would bring this up again. but using the right software update was a hassle (thanks Anandjones for the link).
I could only get to the version before last (and it's only in korean but nvm) , but the latest update prompted me the (this is fake) error.
The weird thing that thos file also contained DTTMenu and YSmenu. Does this have to do with it?
Other than that it's working like a charm (even with new games like scribblenauts and PL and the Diabolic box) except for..... *Drumroll* Square Enix games.
So, can someone please point me to a patching method that make games compatible with R4 clones?

 

Square Enix games usually have anti-piracy codes in them.

Many of the older games like the Dragon Quest games and Chrono Trigger have Action Replay codes that can fix them. The other newer games have stickied posts in the Technical Help section.

Download the latest cheats database from cheats.gbatemp.net to get the "Game Fix" or "Save Fix" codes to play many of the older Square Enix DS games.

 

I see your point, Will that still work if I downgrade the firmware again?
Because the one I got is in Korean, so I won't be able to understand the stuff in the cheats.
Does anyone knows why I get the it's fake error although it's the software from the same company that I got th older sofwares from?
And can I use the YSmenu on a fake R4?

 

Hrm, I'm agaisn't r4 as such, but I'll give another future suggestion...

I got me a mastercard debit card-it allows my real money from my account to be used online-or around the world.

It works like a credit card-very handy

Also the visa debit card.

I registered with pay-pal in order to make safe transactions.

I'm aware that you may have good reasons why you can't currently...but for future purchases..online can be cheaper if you know where to go

Just a suggestion-you never know-I originally was scared of online purchases-but I was forced into buying required work gear online...

Keep that in mind-btw I use an acekard-updated more often and is top of the range.

The reason I can't buy from the internet is that there is no guarantee I will get my item in one piece after it passes through the customs in my country, it will probably no function. Sorry to tell you guys that. So until I travel to a better place I will have to stick with old buying from the shops.

 

No one still answered these questions. I hate it when people post alternative solutions instead of answering directy.
