Sooo I wanna try to start mixing music.

    can anyone recommend some software to download that is good at editing audio? I really wanna give it a try. :) and some links for downloading would be good also!

    No one can link you to cracked software or serials. Freeware/trial software is all you'll get for download links.

    But for an editor, you may try acid. I hear that's good.

    Or a DJ program, probably the best one that I have used is Virtual DJ.

    I have virtual dj already I was not sure if that was good for actually editing music. is it? or just for playing it?

    Just for playing and mixing.
    You can't edit music with it.

    audacity is quite often mentioned, I've not really used it though.

    I used Adobe Audition to mess with some music in the past. Like ace said, you'll have a hard time finding any good programs for free, and we certainly can't link you. The one I mentioned is the only one I've used though.

    Music creation is quite different from mixing in terms of what products you'll need. I've got Virtual DJ for mixing and FL Studio 8 for starting from scratch.
