So, I went to my friend's house last night to try and install Mac OS X onto his netbook, but the install didn't recognize his hard drive, but it read mine... >.> So, my questions are... What are some good applications for Mac? Any secrets I need to know about it? Is it worth to have it on an Acer Aspire One? I know I despise Mac, but this is actually pretty sweet to be honest with you. Though it crashes at times, but only once during a download through safari. The only thing that I am loathing the loss of is wifi. I can't use it with the Netbook because it isn't the right chip or something...any help would be appreciated! And I know some people will say Macs suck. I am NOT running this on a Mac. I'm running it on an Acer Aspire One A150 with little problems. Problems I'm having. No Sound No Wifi Crashes with downloads (not tested firefox yet) Thank you.
if i read your post correctly, you installed MAC OS X on a windows PC....0_o so what I'm gonna say is, you're bound to have problems unless you first changed the BIOS before installing the operating system.... also, i guess you could always try to find drivers for the sound, wifi, and other things.....
Yeah, you're right. I installed MacOSX on my Acer Aspire One Netbook. I used the iPCX86 v. 10.5.6 install DVD to do this. It wasn't too hard, but it apparently left some important details out for the sound and wifi. I don't even know if Wifi is possible with this setup. I'm running an update and so far it's doing just fine.
but if you didn't change the BIOS first, your bound to have issues....and read this for any more assistance.... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=153352
macos has a very narrow range of supported hardware, so if it doesnt work out of the box you're probably SOL.
Yeah. I would need to install a certain wifi chip to get it to work, but I'm not sure if I feel like it or not. Yeah, I read through that. I have it running pretty okish, but with that guide, it's out of date and plus I'm running 10.5.6 already and I don't feel like upgrading right now. I'm still trying to figure out the sound issue.
