    Hello.

Im paying for an internet speed thats worth 0-20 kbps when i download stuff from the internet.
But sometimes I get a surge of internet speed that skyrockets to 200-500 kbps of download speed.

    small question:

Is there a specific or technical term for this..phenomenon?
Is there a way to manipulate it?

500kbps peak? I'm really envious. :( Probably it's possible when the traffic is at its best. Using simualtaneous download with download managers can pump out the speed too.

It's either a burst by your ISP or a program counting wrong.

Some ISPs allow a much faster speed at the beginning of new connections so that it will seem like pages load much faster. This means that downloads might start at 400kb/s and then quickly drop to 20kb/s.

Alternatively it might be your browser just counting wrong. For instance some browsers start the download when you click the same button, but they don't show the counter until you've chosen a file location. So it will take some time before it stabilizes and shows the real speed.
