Occasionally when trying to post a reply in a topic using the Quick Reply box on the bottom of the thread, I get a message saying: Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message. I resubmit it and it works, so it's not a big problem. I'm just curious what is happening. Is there some sort of Cookie that disables the quick reply after I'm idle reading the topic for too long? Some info: I'm using Firefox 3.0.8 I have Windows XP Professional SP3.
Yes, there exists time outs, or if for example your IP changes which it might if you wait a long time with posting. It's for security reasons and it's not being changed.
I've had this seconds after I've entered the topic. In that situation it just seems to be SMF misbehaving.
I get it every now and then, no biggie really. Usually theres a 15 minute "inactivity" time-out period in SMF, at least this forum retains your post...
