Hi, I'm currently in the need of some advice from the people on this board. I've had two separate slot-2 M3 perfect cards and now that new games have been coming out that the perfect wont support (Not to mention no new firmware for it since June) I was thinking about finally shelling out the cash to get myself a Slot-1 card. My question I pose to you is... What should I shell out my money for? I was thinking about maybe getting the new M3i Zero but I don't really want to end up in this same situation another year down the road. I'm hoping you can recommend something based on your own experience that wont be too awkward to get used to (As my wife also uses the DS from time to time and she's not very tech savvy) but something reliably updated enough to allow me to play my the newer games. Edit: Yeah I guess I should have added that in the first place. At the moment I have no plans to get a DSi in the near future... of course I'm sure it is inevitable that I do get one... I really have no plans to purchase one any time soon. As far as cost.... It's not that big of a deal. I mean... There's no card worth more than $100 that I know of... so really cost isn't that big of an issue.
Do you have a DSi? Do you plan on getting a DSi? How much money do you want to spend? If you plan on getting a DSi, or have a DSi, or don't want to spend a lot of money, you probably should get an Acekard2i.
Easier to use, updated, and it's a good all-rounder. Besides-not even sure (as I'm not familier) if the m3 brand can work on dsi.
M3 Zero is DSi friendly I'm told.... I've looked for Ace but anywhere I could get them in Canada seems like it's sold out. Besides inexpensive isn't a big thing for me.... In my life I've noticed that you get what you pay for.... When you aren't willing to shell out a little extra for what you want... you're probably gonna have to buy a new one within a few days.
Acekard2i and the CycloDS are top of the line when it comes to compatibility. You won't have to buy a new Acekard2i anytime soon I believe Dealextreme.com ships to Canada. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18728 Note: CycloDS doesn't work on the DSi
Should I assume then that you have an ace yourself? If so... How often do you have to update the firmware and what type of card media does it support? Micro-SD is what I would assume... but just trying to clarify everything before I purchase.
Yes-micro sd. firmware install is easy-download it from the official site... www.acekard.com And inside you would find 2 files-a folder (_acekard) and a .nds file (akmenu.nds) and place them in the root-easy I only have an older 2.1-same as 2.i but the i version is dsi compatible. Trith know's he's stuff-wouldn't surprise me if he did have an acekard or another good card.
I own a CycloDS. But I have an old Phat DS. I base my opinions about the cards on the latest releases of games, including Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon SS/HG, and Mario and Luigi 3. These games have had very little trouble running on the Acekard2i and CycloDS, and can currently run on both of these cards without any patches or cheats. The compatibility is top notch. I know the CycloDS has a built in GBA loader, and requires no homebrew to run them. I believe the Acekard2i does as well. (You still need a Slot 2 expansion card though). I believe both cards have auto-DLDI patching for running homebrew.
Awesome... One last question... Do you know how well the ace runs emulators? When I had originally bought the perfect as well as the perfect lite.... They had made claims to run emulators perfectly... Neither of them could run SNES or Genesis roms with anything close to a 100% success rate. I've come to learn that a company's site doesn't tend to give completely accurate information when it comes to their own products (I dunno why I assumed it would).
That is not a problem with the card, it's a problem with the emulator. The SNES and Genesis emulators are no where near 100% perfect. But the flashcards run them just fine.
If an emulator fails it's the fault of the emu it's self. And emulators on ds have stopped production-nes is 98%, gameboy 98%, snes is 90% (mostly chip set games like star fox or the large games like ultimate mortal kombat 3) and genisis/megadrive is about 85%. SMS and GG are about 95% as well. Perfect emulation is always pc based-even the psp scene is slowing down
