Since every fucking message board I visit is busy drowning in their semen over Skyrim I thought I'd ask if anyone here has played it and what your opinions on it are.

Apparently the game is godlike, but has some issues on consoles.

I played Morrowind for 2 hours and hated it so much. Yet I see players(Gamespot forums lookin' at you) saying that Morrowind was 'better' than both. I played Oblivion as well, lasted longer than Morrowind, but I still abandoned it within the first day.

I find this strange because I usually love RPG games, I'm a big Final Fantasy and WoW fan. I tend to love leveling up etc.

Maybe I'm getting old - lawl.

its good. Graphics are slightly dated (about oblivion level or slightly better) but they don't detract from the game. Morrowind has its flaws, and oblivion is annoyingly unstable, but my only complaint about skyrim so far is I can't seem to find any way to increase my carrying capacity.

The UI is dumbed down from the previous games and I hate it, the perk system is crap too. Thats its biggest problems though, the game itself is the best Elder scrolls so far.

Stamina bro. Each level in stamina increases your carrying capacity by 5, not much but worth chugging a few levels into.

The UI is retarded for PC and I like the perk system (but not it's UI) and it's clearly a carry over from Fallout.

Otherwise, I really like it. I didn't like Morrowind all too much, I hated Oblivion, and I enjoy Skyrim. You don't really have to adhere to any set build which is probably why I like it versus the other ones.

    I won't lie to you.

    It's freaking awesome!!
I've been playing it since the 10th of November (thank EB Games Australia for that) and have enjoyed every single bit.

If my word isn't enough rent it for a couple of days and see how it is.

It is a great game. But don't get it if you hated oblivion, it wont be for you then, it seems you like the more linear type of game, i mean skyrim is so open world its insane!!

So all and all, for YOU. Drop the game- yes- go miss out on the most epic game of all time

I was never a fan of Elders Scrolls. but playing the game made me like it.

If you like being sidetracked by randon exploring / sidequests this game is for you.
For all in all, everything you see in skyrim you can step on it. For the exception of the edges of the world map.

The action of the game adapts to you situation. You can pick a Two-handed sword and simply go berserk on every map. Or try to sneak behind every enemy and cut their heads off.

There's also the Carry Capacity enchant and the Steed Stone blessing, the latter giving you an extra 100 carry capacity.

I will add it to my overly long to play list.

I liked Morrowind... Oblivion had some nice improvements... but I didn't like it as much, world wise. There were more noticeable moments in morrowind, such as clear racism and prejudices between races...in oblivion I only ever saw that once... from an old lady speaking ill of a nord.

I can't really speak for skyrim... I'll play it eventually but only after the GOTY edition is out with all the DLC on disk for half the original release price. I may enjoy TES games... but only AFTER the community has had time to fix all of bethesdas failures in design. [remember the oblivion patch for PC that fixed like... everything?] Friends of mine are raving about it... but meh I can wait.

theres actually very few bugs in skyrim. I've had zero crashes and just one bugged quest character which has already been patched

I've had one instance of two quests being made undoable by each other, vibrating pies, and 5+ loading screen crashes

They may not be up to scratch but they are a LOT better than oblivion's.

Skyrim is absolutely amazing, but chances are if you don't enjoy the others then you won't enjoy this one. Its not a tedious and grindingly grindtastic grindfest like FF and WoW.

They fixed so many things that were wrong with oblivion. Like, for example, the mystic guards who knew it if you stole a cup on the other side of Cyrodil :p

One thing that disappointed me was that they haven't included headshots. An arrow to the foot still does the same damage as an arrow to the head

or, indeed, an arrow to the knee? :troll:

Remember, this is The Elder Scrolls, not Colladooty, things work a bit different between RPGs and FPSs.

Still, it doesn't make sense. It wouldn't throw off the balance; I mean, it's difficult to hit someone in the head unless you're standing right in front of them :p

Certain archery perks make it extremely easy even from a distance.
Though, I suppose it would make sniping even more deadly and give those perks more use.
