Why does the site title still say "Gba Roms, NDS Roms, We have all the roms - The Epitome of Emulation?"

We removed the NDS roms from the main site so the NDS part and All the roms needs to be removed.

You kicked a lot of people in the balls when you removed the NDS roms section. Since you have no issue with that then its time to man up and stick to your word. Either remove the NDS roms part from the site title (Since you no longer have them for download) or add them back up for download (So you could stay true to your word)

But i guess romu wants to outdo itself. No longer is this site just a coward, but its now a lying coward.

Edit - and remove that pesky latest nds roms side box thing on the login page. Since Romu isnt hosting them anymore then its not needed.

I can't respond to this since this isn't my decision to make. I will however, respond to the rest of this since leaving you with no response at all seems to be just rude.

We're leaving the pages up so that people will have screenshots and comments to have some sort of basis because our aim has always been to let people try before they buy.

The fact that you would call us cowards for removing them due to legal threats is just stupid though. We're not going to have our futures destroyed for the sake of giving people free games. We're especially not going to have them destroyed for worthless leeches who've never contributed a damn thing to this site even though they've been here roughly a year now.

Also, fun fact, you can remove that box yourself by clicking the "settings" button on your home page on the main site and unchecking the "Latest NDS ROMs" box! How about that!

I'll give you the last part. I should have checked that a bit better but i stand by the rest of my comments, especially the coward part.

My reasons? If you have the guts to start a site that infringes on copyrights then you need to have the guts to see it through or kill it all at once, instead of slowly killing it. Nothing is worse then watching a animal get ran over and then seeing its final moments, when it clings on to whatever life it has left in hopes of somehow surviving.

At first the coward comment was directed at removing the DS roms but after looking i've noticed that you have removed dl's for many retros. I can understand removing the DS roms since the DS is still a viable system but why remove the dls for obselete and most likely unobtainable games? That said just because i understand why it was done, it doesn't mean that i agree with it.

    ...

    Would you risk legal action?

RomU have no chance in court, unlike pirate bay which has survive countless times.

But removing the nds part would shut whingers up, though...hrm,...hard choices.

The site wasn't started on the principle of giving free games to people. It was started on the principle of letting people try games before they buy them. The problem was that most games never received demos of any sort so we were stuck with putting up the full thing and we were left open to legal threats due to this. Seph has something in the works that he's planning on doing, but he's being quiet about it for the time since it's likely going to take some time before he has it ready. It won't have anything to do with piracy though so if that was your reason for being here, you'll likely just want to leave.

The reason many of the retro ROMs were removed as well was due to the ESA telling us to remove them as well. We didn't really see the point to it either but they've got the high-class lawyers and we're on the wrong side of the law, so we're hardly in a position to argue.

I sell a murderer a gun, and a few boxes of ammo. He says he is planning to go hunting on the weekend. He goes and kills everyone in the local orphanage.

In this case i should have known what would have happened even if the person said something diffrent. I intended to sell a murderer a gun for hunting, knowing that he could kill another human with it. Intent and reality are diffrent.

This site was created to allow people to try games, fine then. But any somewhat intelligent person would relise that a majority of the people would not 'try' the games and buy a real copy.

That aside im a member of the site for the roms. Im a member of the forums because of all the interesting people around.

We're not so naive as to believe otherwise, but that was what this site was based on in the eyes of it's creator. There's really nothing we can do about it if people used it for purposes other than what he intended it to be used for. Likewise, it's not really the gun seller's fault that the man who said he was using it to go hunting ended up slaughtering an orphanage full of children. It's not really his business to know what the man plans on doing with it in the first place.

As I said earlier, I can't tell you anything about what's going to happen with the main site since that's out of my hands, but I will tell you that we plan on changing things around after we pick up the pieces. It won't be aimed at ROM distribution anymore though so if that was your only reason for visiting it, then you're likely better off just not going there anymore. When the change comes, you just might get your wish with that change you want so all I can tell you to do is wait for now.

Of course many people didn't buy a retail copy of many of the games they downloaded. It's called piracy, and the owners of RomUlation were fully aware it was happening. Did they support it? Of course not. They stood by their "try before you buy" slogan, as that is what the site was about. Sadly, that isn't enough when you are hosting fully copyrighted products for direct download. All they could really do is hope that people were truly using the service for its intended purposes.

RomUlation has been in the spot light for years now with a shutdown that occurred a few years back. The owners were fully expecting something like this at some point, and they wouldn't of acted any differently at any other time. I'm sure it's appreciated that you're being somewhat understanding (albeit it being with some oddly violent metaphors), but the course of action they have taken is the only one that they could have taken while still providing some of their current service. They also aren't going to pull down everything when they don't have to. That is just more work that would be stupid to do when not necessary. Especially considering people can still take advantage of some of the present ROM's.

Like Reider has already mentioned, Seph has a project in the works (that is legal). In the mean time though, nothing else is going to happen to the site except for any required ROM managing that may pop up. Admins can feel free to correct me, but from everything I've heard, this seems to be the current course of action.

Pointless topic. Reasoning has been said over and over by the moderators and administrators of this site. No need to continue to argue about it.
