I had a question about downloading a few things simultaneously. I know you need to be a premium member to get simultaneous downloads, but I'm a normal member and I noticed I can get 2 at once if I download one from the North American Server and one from the European server. Is this allowed? I was taking advantage of this, but I just wanted to make sure I'm not breaking any site rules. Thanks.
Yes, it can happen that way. I don't think it is a rule violation, but Seph will be the final word on that. I have done it before. It still costs the correct amount of points, so I don't think any harm is being done. The reason it happens is because the servers don't tell each other who is downloading from one or the other.
Meh, I could say it's a rule violation but I can't do anything about it right now. We're working on technology to easily restrict across several servers but it's not all that easy to do, so while I could say that it's bad it's not like anyone would listen.
Why would it be a rule violation-I didn't even know myself, not that I tried it thanks to my oddgy connection...(at home at least ). When you put that in place...could you let us know so to reduce the amount of people asking "why can't I download 2 things at once" ? Back to forum surfing...
Because we have a speed limit on downloading, that works on a per-connection basis, so if we didn't limit connections to 1 people could bypass the limit by simply opening up 8 connections. We prevent that by limiting it to 1, sadly, right now that works on a per-server basis so two downloads are actually possible. (locked to the specified speed, though)
