Right now I have an original Nintendo DS with an EDGE card. Should I get a DS lite and use the same card or should I get a dsi with a DSTTi or something?

Not unless you have some problems with your current setup.

if you ask me,yes and no.
with dsi,you can get downloaded software ect.but you get updates
with ds,you dont have software upgrades, which means all flashcart work, and dont forget the gba slot...id have to say nds lite, unless ndsi comes out with virtual console...and then get hacked to lay free virtual consoles...
the answer to your question,if you asked me,would be no at this moment.

due to slot 2 issues, i would use a DS lite..

due to time issues :) i don't know what they have in mind for the DSi

in my opinion you should wait... and use your old original DS :) there's nothing wrong with it right?
