I have a DS lite, and a "phat" ds And for xmaas i was wondering if i should get a DSI. Do you think the dsi is a good switch from the DS lite? I am also thinking of getting an ackard 2i. OR should i wait for the DSI XL?
The dsi xl is just a bigger dsi with beter battery life...which is best because I could have sworn I charged mine just last night...curly i can't of used 11 hours of charge already? Anyway, it has a lower battery life, and sure there is the dsi shop...but you have to pay for those games, not to mention the fact is you lose the gba compatibility for a semi decent camera and acc compatibility (it plays music...but only in acc format-otherwise known as "mp4") It's ok but only as a time waster (with pic/mucis distortion) and if you never had a ds before. If you really want one, wait for the bigger dsi xl, it'll last longer on the charge..though you lose on the portability.
It's for christmas eh? Go for the XL. or if you really want it now, the DSi will do. Get new colors though, not Black or that bubblegum blue. It's gonna be worth your money, with the music player and the browser and the fun camera.
But the battery life is crap...and moonshell does mp3 playback... As the owner of the 6th in australia (was at midnight launch..we got ours before america did for once) I can honestly say...the battery life sucks! My ds phat out last it, I use that more than the dsi because I don't have to charge it all the time. The one weakness...battery life.
I've had my lite since it came out (like 4 years ago I think), still works perfectly, only thing wrong with is there's a bit missing on the hinge (thanks to my brother stepping on it) so I have hold the screen up with a finger otherwise it falls down. Anyway, back on topic now. OP, I would stick with your Lite and Phat. But like I said before, if you really want a DSi, then wait for the XL.
If you want to give up for your slot-2, then go for the DSi. If you don't want something bulky then don't go for DSi LL lol.
I'd say get one and keep your old ds phat or lite for the gba slot thats what im doing (unless you dont care about it although i got a nice gold zelda DS lite so i not getting ride of mine just want dsi) As for the normal or the XL depends how big your hands if you have smaller hands then the DSi is fine with you have Larger hands (like myself) and find the DS Lite hurts your fingers the XL might be better as it'll be a bit thicker and easyier to hold i see it more of DSi for kids DSi XL of adults
can the xl use flash carts? one reason why nintendo is releasing it so soon is that they wanted to step up their AP efforts. i've heard that it has extra features to block, but then again i haven't seen anything much about it's new securities. i'm assuming no one knows because i just did some searches and nothing yet... *EDIT. more anti-piracy features will supposedly render every known flashcart useless like when the dsi originally came out. all existing flash carts didn't work on it. rendering them useless and out of date until the first dsi compatible flash cart was made. so the only way to get a flash cart to work on this thing is to develop one exclusively for it. Remake it in other words.......again.
again more reason to keep your DS lite for normal ds games and get the DSi XL for the DSi ware (really wanna play flipnote studios
probably stick with the lite. i still have mine and im not to fussed on get a dsi. and if you have an R4 or some other one then you'll probably need to get a new one for the dsi.
I got a DSI cos I REALLY wanted one and to be honest, its not all that different! The screen is bigger, but you can't really notice it. Yes the DSI shop is cool, and flip note is good, but like everything else, you get fed up and move onto something else. I am going to get an XL when it comes out cos my eyesight is rubbish and the bigger screen will make it more enjoyable for me. I'd wait for the next one, but keep your others so you can still play roms till they make the new cards.
I got a DSi because I thought the camera was a cool add on but I was let down by knowing I can't play many guitar based games like Band Hero and stuff not to mention some games with rumble pak..but from another thought it has better spec which runs game better than the DSL and the camera is really cool and fun.. it has a feature of posting your photos straight to facebook from ur DSi..the amazing thing is that there's some really cool dsi ware you can check it out here http://ds.ign.com/articles/105/1055840p1.html and there's gonna be greater DSi exclusive games so far I know one which really interest me is the "Monster Finder". Though I don't really noe lot abt DSi XL but I think DSi XL Isn't a really good one it's nt slimmer anymore and the stylus looks like somesort of ball pen my dad use in work.. the screen is much larger of course but since the camera only has 0.3 megapixel which is to say kinda bad blur, doesn't the large screen makes the photo looks even worse? and all they was complaining was DS games was made for low resolution and when the screen gets larger all the game textures in the game looks worse too..
THE DS LITE DOES MORE (if you put in some extra money). My ds plays music and videos. it has an internet browser. and has a super nintendo emulator. It doesn't have a crappy camera, but hey if u need one. and the battery kicks ass. charges quick and lasts all day. (ive used mine religiously since 06. still lasts all day). and very durable. it works as good as it did out of the box(she can take some damage). and i hear flashcarts aren't as compatible.
