Should I buy a psp for 50 pounds on ebay and put CFW on it??? Or is it not worth it because there are no games and that psvita is launching soon?
Unless you're one of those "I want all my gaems to be original, boo pirates" (but you're in a forum that practically thrives on them), there's no reason to not have CFW on a PSP. Sure, without CFW, the PSP itself can do a lot of things (watch movies, connect to the internet, etc), but with CFW, it opens it up to new things by the very massive homebrew scene (emulators, customized XMB themes, things that make your PSP be more awesome).
You mean like the PS mini things? Or do you mean just any old content from the PS3 like video, and pictures. Either way, you don't buy a PSP for PSP games. It's the entire PSX library at your fingertips, as well as the rest of the homebrew scene.
I'm pretty sure I saw a hacked version of this on a torrent site. Your thinking that you can mix legit software with hacked software need to be out the window when it comes to CFW. The only legit thing you can run on a hacked PSP are UMDs. CFW will not just readily accept legit software since legit games usually have some sort of anti-piracy on it. Even newer dumps of PSP games have this. You'll either need an updated CFW to run unmodded games or wait for an AP patch, or in this case, download a completely hacked version of it. I'm not sure exactly what medium is used for the Pinball game, whether it is off of the Uncharted 2 disc, stored off of the PS3 HDD, or on a UMD. If it is options 1 or 2, then you will have to find a hacked release, and if option 3, then you will probably need 5.50 Prometheus v4 just to be safe.
I think it's a good investment, assuming you know what you're doing. If you're new to the field, you may want to do a little homework before jumping it. If done wrong, you could brick it. X
In the past three months, I've had two PSPs fall to me for free. One from a friend on here and another from a friend IRL. I need to get a screen for the 2000 and just mod the 1000.
I'm not going to fix it just yet. I am going to buy a converter for PSP to TV for now. It's 15$ compared to 40-50$ for a new screen.
Hmm. I think you should go ahead and get it. Sure the PSvita is coming out soon, but I think it's actually good to get the PSP now while it's towards the end of its life cycle. Reason being because there are so many games to choose from. Plus, there are still good games being made like Final Fantasy Type-0.
