Seagate 250GB Portable HDD Errors

    I recently got this new Portable HDD, no click of death however When I removed it while the laptop lid was closed, it didn't show up until I restarted and on another computer I got a weird I/O error. Anyone know what causes this?

    Turn it off, plug it back in, does the error still occur?
