Hey guys, my R4 just gave me the SD/TF card error. I tried to use the R4 card reader to see if I can access the files on my computer but every time I select the drive it says "The disk in Drive I is not formatted. Would you like to format it now?". I'm looking for some way to recover my save files but I have no idea how to do this. At the moment trying to use this tool to recover the data.

But I have no idea what to pick for the partition option. I'm using a Kingston 2GB memory card. So yeah... help :(

    They is a trick with

    Panasonic SD Formatter

    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nniuwomaetm

That is to wait awhile and be quick to format when ready to do so

Look for a free recover files software on google

    http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&q=free+recover+files&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=94dc2184ded5623c

Try not to use the same usb port as this mabe cause of the coruption, bad usb readers can also cause this issue

I'm not looking for a way to format the SD card. I'm trying to recover the files BEFORE I format it.

Format dose have to be done in this matter, but don't worry as you can still recover even so!

You will not get your card to work without a format

A format dose not erase data, as you need an eraser program like Active KillDisk Hard Drive Eraser to do so

    The fragments are still there!

After using the Panasonic SD formatter it's saying the same thing.

Would you like to format it now?".

    Click yes

If that works.. then don't use Panasonic SD Formatter

In Panasonic SD Formatter , options - format type (Full erase on) - ok - format

Well... it working but it doesn't seem to be an SD card anymore. Rather it seems to have become a normal drive. Whenever I select it it says "Please insert a disk into Drive I".

Edit- Just reformatted with the Panasonic SD. Looking for some file recovery software now...

Well the card is back to normal. I can't seem to find a file recovery tool to recover the SAV files and nds files though. I'm using Recuva but it seems that it only recovers image files. Any suggestions?

Download the original games you had , and get fresh kernal from the website on the box your card came in, Is it an original R4?

But as for the .sav files are importent to you

    Try recover my files

    http://www.mediafire.com/?j3jzgnjmamy

    http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&q=recover+my+files+mediafire&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=94dc2184ded5623c

If you have an R4 original try the latest kernals, either Wood R4 v1.11 are ysmenu , as they play more newer games

    Wood R4 v1.11 http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=12182

    YSMenu

Thanks, you've been a great help Jhon. I can't tell if the file recovery is working or not since it's taking a while but either way you've been a great help. Now I'll just sleep while it hopefully finds my saves.

I already have backups but they're from 2 weeks back. That's like 20 hours of Dragon Quest IX lost (was at the last dungeon). Hmm it seems Recover My Files don't work. It finds lots text related stuff which I'm guessing it's code? Maybe it's possible to convert them to .sav files (doubt it)?
