When I got the Dino Crisis 2 ROM for my PS, the screen was effed up. The screen was lowered and the colors were messed up.

So I got another ROM from another site and same problem. What did I do wrong or what happened?

Is it something to do with the game being a NTSU/PAL/ISO?

Shouldn't if the system is chipped, have you tried it in ePSXe to see if you get the same results?

I did a quick google and apparently your not alone read something about there is a type of protection code embedded in the retail CD, (but that doesn't seem right if there is an ISO of it) Anyway the retail game will actually alert you on screen that the system has been modified, also seen something about a patch, but I think that depends on the game/console region. I'd dig some more but I am pressed for time...sorry.

I don't know where my console is from but it's chipped. I'll try a different CD.

Does the disc being Memorex or TDK make a difference?

Likely there is a PPF patch for it, if it's a protection issue.

    Check out this page:
    PSX Patches

I would try this one first:
Dino Crisis *FIXED* Protection Fix US-NTSC

Here is a program to apply PPF patches to Images.

Seems to be quite a few, you might have to look around.

    *Disclaimer*
I personally haven't used that site much, but other users have used the Spyro 3 patch from there and reported it working correctly. I am not 100% about everything there though.

So the cause of my screen problem is by a protection issue?

I have no idea how to patch my game so I'm gonna try getting the PAL version on a Memorex CD-R.

You just use the PPF O Matic program from that GBATemp link. And you load the Disc Image and the PPF patch and it patches it for you.

Disk Image? You mean like the .cue or .bin file?

.cue,.bin,.iso etc load it up via daemon tools or something similar and run the patch program and aim it at the disk image.

You don't need it loaded with Daemon Tools. You just need to load it in the PPF O Matic program.

I said "Disc Image" because it could be anything, ISO, BIN, IMG, MDF etc. They are all Image files. I'm not 100% sure what types are supported by PPF O Matic, but the program should list them.

Okay then. It could patch NTSU, PAL, and ISO?

NTSC and PAL are television signal formats. ISO is a Disc Image.

The patches are made for the specific region and game. There are patches for the PAL version, NTSC-U and NTSC-J. Go to that PSX Patches link I gave earlier and download the PPF file for the correct version, and then use the PPF O Matic program to patch the game.

Okay. Is the patch for the NTSU or PAL?
