I have to do a thing called Senior Projects at my school. Its this giant career related report and other stuff. I am on the research paper portion now and my Topic is Computer Hardware Engineer and i need some more sources and note cards. I have all the education requirements and salary and job discription but i need more. I need mostly the history of the job and how it affects economy and soceity and stuff like that. All helpo will be appriciated.
Just joking man.. take it easy! Anyways, Interviews always look good in a research paper. Try finding someone around your area who specializes in Computer engineering. Also, try the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. http://www.bls.gov/ They have lots of statistics and data about different careers, they even have career outlooks that tell how fast a certain career will rise or fall in the next couple of years. Hope this helps you.
One possible thing you might want to try is you could tie in the history of computer hardware development with the growth of the industry and the expanding job openings. Try making a timeline of the development of Computer hardware itself. Then, with each step of the timeline, state the effect it had for the industry at that time, and also, state how the change affected job opportunities like maintenance guys/ repairmen
I'm sorry though. I can't really give you any one site that can give you all the answers. Try going into a university's library database. They should have some articles or books that have a connection with your topic.
Toffee hit the nail on the head. A progressive collage, would be ideal. From the introduction of computers, to the apex, and decline in PC sales, OS systems and whatnot. Try a nice brainstorming session, get all your ideas on paper, and then try and interconnect them all. I would really love to assist, but I always end up writing the paper for the person in question.
The paper is only 8 pages long and its main topic is about the Computer Hardware Engineering career. Detailing all that would be useless as most of it is unrelated to the main point.
Some people can write all they know and have seven pages left over. Even irrelevant details fill up space, so long as they are an extension of the main point, however moot they maybe.
I suppose you have a point. However, if he was writing a scientific research paper, all irrelevant details would be considered a waste of time and his credibility (and grade) would drop.... at least that's how I was taught.
Depends on the teacher/professor. Some actually reward creative thinking, then again, as you stated, some don't It's up to Arc, I never said for him to write a fairytale, just pad his words to fill up the eight pages. I used to get 12-15 page homework assignments, I had to 'creativity' write, just to fill all of them up. Stupid college ruled, double sided paper. *Dan throws fists in the air, in angry defiance.*
