A friend of mine is really into anime and I haven't watched any in soooo long. I'm looking for suggestions but, for some scary anime..horror...mystery. Nothing kiddie and " bubble gum"...lol Thanks for any and all suggestions. HoustonTX224

It's a bit scary (lot of murders etc...). And it is awesome. I think everybody knows this anime (I have the manga's and I've watched the anime's) DEATH NOTE
You want real horror anime? GHOST HUNT. Watch this late at night. Especially when the things pop out of no where... What CrazyTuna said. Higurashi is decent ish. Not 'that' scary though

I suggest your first Higurashi experience not be in English. Not just because "OHEMGEE JApONAiSE IS BETTAH", but the voices really do ruin it. It's much better in Japanese and it has a well put together storyline. Don't let the loli imaging fool you. It can get very disturbing. It can be a scary anime. Especially the first arc while the newcomer is still confused and doesn't know what's going on. Also, a good horror/mystery is Umineko no naku koro ni. Made by the same creator of Higurashi no naku koro ni, but with a completely different story and twist. Much like a game of clue at first, but with more grotesque murders. A disturbing horror is "Le Portrait de Petit Cossette". It's only 3 episodes long, not worth falling out of your seat, but perhaps you'll like it.
