Saving the game on Pokemon Heart Gold

I'm running Pokemon Heart Gold no NO$GBA emulator version 2.6. Whenever I save the game and then close the emulator, however, I am unable to access that save when i open up the game again, because the game acts as though it is again the first time I have ever started the game. Does writing a snapshot fix this? Can I use that to load back to that exact point where I took the snapshot? If not, how do I have the in game saving mechanism work correctly? Yes, I do have my backup media for DS set to FLASH 512k bytes. Thanks in advance!

 

Snapshots do not work for NDS games. Is the ROM patched in any way? If so/if not, keep your queries to https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php?topic=22674.0 Also, try manually exiting the emulator after you save, and reload.
