Re: BSOD errors while setting up dual-boot (loony, a lil help please?) missing boot drivers, probably because your hard disk is SATA. Windows XP doesn't support SATA as a boot device unless you add drivers at install time.

Re: BSOD errors while setting up dual-boot (loony, a lil help please?) I need to know what sata controller your computer uses.
don't change the first post, it makes it difficult to follow the thread. Looking in device manager would be a good start. I assume you have a working OS.
sory about that...and will do, give me a moment.. EDIT: i can't figure out what my HDD is in device manager...i'm guessing disk drives, but i can't find it's drivers anywhere...
i just copied this from one of the controllers under device manager... IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers i can't find anything to do with SCSI/RAID...
odd, sata controllers are usually classed as scsi controllers, so there should be a section for them. ATA is what is usually used for CD drives.
i got it from device manager, under... IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers and if i check the specs of my computer i see the following... Storage Drive • 500GB (5400 RPM) Serial ATA hard disk drive so i figured it kinda fits... EDIT: i told you device type earlier...the actual device is as follows.. Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller...hope this helps you help me! EDIT2: i already checked my BIOS, i read somewhere some BIOS will allow you to change it from SATA to IDE...no luck there.. EDIT3: found another controller... AWFSNYUC IDE Controller...it is SCSI...this is the ONLY SCSI controller in the entire of device manager...i found it under "Storage Controllers"
oh right, windows 7 must have changed the categories. standard serial ata controller is no help at all, its a generic driver, there is no such thing in windows XP so we need to know exactly what the device is. download dr hardware 2009, select the hardware page, then the 'PCI Bus' tab. You should be able to find the device in the list on that tab, and selecting it should tell you exactly what it is. We need that information.
actually, i found the right SATA driver, it was an Intel based on my internal chip set... i know this, because i slipstreamed every SATA driver into an ISO, and then let XP pick the right one! : so now, here's my issue...no drivers...since the Drivers for my computer are custom by Toshiba, will Generic ones work? I've read it can cause MAJOR problems.... i used CMD from my Windows 7 Install disk to tell it to boot Windows 7 (don't ask me how, i printed a guide...) so now i'm working with EasyBCD to get them to recognize eachother...still have an issue of now drivers...
when i do a driver scan on Intels website for a more updated Video Driver, it tells me mine are custom from a manufacturer, and installing a generic one could cause issues...
they say that to try and dodge the fact that it's their responsibility to provide driver updates. intel drivers will work fine.
that means, if i get the most updated driver from them, then i may be able to play this game, even without dual-booting...^_^
