o.k have been reading the forum here and gba temp instructions and heres my problem:
I want to buy from an aussie retailer and they have a preinstalled type service but not as good as the one from the shop that was recommended here becasue when i asked they only install official acekard os. That is fine as i feel competent to install akaio and loaders myself after reading all the great advice from these forums. HOWEVER the dsi xl Santa has wrapped ready for Christmas runs on firmware 1.4A and i understand some magic therefore needs to be performed prior to being able to run acekard 2i on it.....so heres my question
If the shop puts the acekard os on will this magic therefore have happened and then i can just delete the acekard official os from the sdcard and install akaio?
Do i run the risk of accidentally undoing the magic update by deleting the acekard os?
Maybe santa should have just brought that scooter?????
Thanks so much for any advice you might offer..............................

The firmware from the flashcart and the one that is installed on the microsd card (official acekard firmware/akaio) are different ones. If they give you the option to upgrade your flashcart firmware to one that will run on 1.4A firmware for the DSi XL then get it. The official firmware from Acekard that they will pre-load onto the microsd card has nothing to do with the flashcart firmware and it can be easily deleted and you can just drag and drop the akaio files onto the microsd card so you shouldn't worry about that. Just make sure they install the flashcart firmware that is able to run on 1.4A

I think you were getting confused because it looks like your buying a "kit".When I got my Acekards,I just bought the cart, since I had several microsd's already(which were blank),and an adaptor also.

I'm an Aussie and I would strongly recommend you purchase from http://shoptemp.com/categories/DS-Flashcarts/

It would be a lot cheaper - especially with the Aussie $ like it is and if you purchase the Micro SD card they can have it totally ready to go if you use the premium flashing service. Postage is free and you can include tracking with it. Order today and you should get it in PLENTY of time for Christmas (I have found delivery to be within 10 -14 working days). Just remember to get a card reader aswell because Acekard doesn't come with one.

on that site (shoptemp) just choose premium flashing. with this, shoptemp will make your card be able to run on dsi firmware 1.4.1. also, firmware update and kernel update are different things. if the card comes with the official acekard kernel, it wont affect it working on the dsi if the card was already flashed to work on dsi firmware 1.4.1. so you can change it to AKAIO at any time without being worried it wont work on the dsi

Liking this shoptemp place - can basically get TWO acekard2i's (one for me and one for my son) and larger memory cards for same price as the local shop i was looking at. Just wary of using overseas shop and of postage time. Might fork out the extra $17 for express shipping so Santa does not get in trouble.
Wondering if any other Aussies have had expereinces good or bad from shoptemp re deleivery times?

Shoptemp is a legitimate site, but I have heard it takes a while for shipping, just make sure it will arrive in time.
