I have a new 4gb sandisk MS for use with my PSP-2000. The other day i switched the psp on and removed my old sandisk ms - 2gb, then inserted the 4gb, and started copying all the data from the 2gb ms. All seemed to be ok the data/games are working e.t.c, but when i switch the psp off and then power it on again it doesnt boot up! The light is green but the screen stays black. Why has this happened? Just to let you know My psp is not bricked, because when i insert my 2gb ms back in the psp boots up! weird isnt it? (formatted the stick before copying content onto ms) It's not a huge problem, it's just abit annoying because i really want to use the 4gb card rather than 2gb. :-[ HLP
Is the 4gb a magic gate? and u musnt format with the pc put in your 2 gb turn on then put in the 4gb format it copy all the stuff then see if it works btw are you using CFW?
I already formatted it via PSP. I'm using cfw 5.00 M33-6 and the ms is Magic gate certified. I thought the 4gb card might be faulty, but its not because i tried using a 128mb sony ms same thing, it just stays black. Its as if the 2gb ms is a life line for my psp! i better keep that safe!
Here is a list of folders on the ms > MP_ROOT , MUSIC , PICTURE , PSP , VIDEO , cxmb , ISO , seplugins. When i formatt the 4gb and connect it to the desktop these folders show up empty. ( I've noticed when i insert the 4gb card it views as - FAT32 on the PC, the 2gb shows as FAT only is that a problem?
Try reformating it to FAT i think i had the same problem wih my 16gb with xp trying to format it with NTFS
How do i format it to FAT i can't see a option in mycomputer > removable disk. You got a 16gb ms what the h3ll must have cost you $80
Do you use a card reader cause you will need one to reformat it(my printer has one built in) and i got my card from my photographer cousin when he bought a new camera that uses Compact Flash Card
to format the memory card to fat, insert it into the computer, and note the drive letter. Open a command prompt (start->run, 'cmd'), and type 'format [drive letter]: /FS:FAT32' and press enter (replace [drive letter] with the letter of your memory stick).
Still no luck after reformatting. I have noticed when i copy 2 of the same videos to both 2gb and 4gb cards and play the video via the psp and pause it halfway through, then remove the ms and insert the other ms in, it carrys on from where i stopped it! how can this be? is it saved on the psp RAM?
...that's odd, I occasionally have the same issue... But the thing is, I use one of those SD card adaptors-I sacrifice read speed (since it reads 2 cards) for cheaper use...but this same error happens every now and then...I just turn off my psp, and restart... What I'd do, if it's easier, is to reformat the card with the psp itself, copy and paste the old card's content into it (just to the root-it will over write the rest) and you should be cool... Otherwise-pay good money to the god known as sony XD (funny though-my sd adaptor is using 2 8GB scandisk cards and it's rare this happens)
Whats really strange is every single other ms duo does not work with my PSP, it wont even switch on! it only comes on with that 2gb card. It's as if the psp is semi-bricked and cannot work without it, im stuck with the 2gb card it seems to me.
what firmware is it ,how old, have you preformed a lobotomy or brain surgery on it before, even dropped it in the pool.stuff like that
Bought it in 2008 never dropped it ever, never opened it. it's currently on firmware 5.00 M33-6 (hard modded) and its good as new.
...I find it even more strange since your using the same model psp as me Um, not sure if you know, but what motherboard is yours running? (To hack it with that firmware you might be using the same as me, but thought I'd ask...) So you tried my first bit of advice right-format via psp-copy and paste old stuff into freash card, etc?
I tried your advice re-formatting it via PSP and copying and pasting it to fresh card, my motherboard model is TA-085 & motherboard type is Slim (02g)
