risk of r4 clones??

    i unfortunately ordered an r4 and am afraid it is a clone...so now what r the risk if i did use it anyway? how can i tell if its a clone or not? is cyclo ds flash better more reliable option? thanks for helping

    Yes the cyclo ds is a much better flash cart and teamcyclops is great.
    As far as risk of using a R4 clone, i'm not sure.
    If your asking if it could brick your NDSL I don't see that happening.

    Unfortunately I did not do my research before purchasing a flash cart for my son this Christmas. I got him an R4SDHC which I later found out is a clone. I have not had any issues with it, other than having to patch a few roms in order to make them work. He is happy with it, but he does have a friend at school with the CycloDS and he likes it better than his R4.

    the main risk with R4 clones is that some games may not be compatible. There is only one R4 clone that carries the risk of actual physical damage to your DS, and that is the N5.

    Generally, there would be differences on the box (images etc.) and circuit changes usually.
