Could somebody please tell me why everytime I play one of my games in full screen, I prefer my games that way because of my pathetically poor peepers, I always end up with this?

That ugly black fram you're looking at is the rest of my screen. The reason why I can't figure it out is because I've never seen this happen before!

usually because you're running a widescreen resolution on a non-widescreen monitor and its trying to preserve the aspect ratio.

Well, the black bar is a frame around all sides.

Either that game is designed to run at a specific low-resolution, and your monitor isn't set to go that low, or can't go that low. Or the image is how the game is supposed to be?

So what resolution should I have it set at. I don't have a widescreen monitor. I hate widescreen anything! All that does is chop off 2/3 of the picture!

Depends on the game, but if it's old it'll probably be something low like 800x600.

You are wrong, widescreen monitors and televisions display more of the picture. A standard display cuts off 2/3 of the picture. When you watch a fullscreen movie, the two far edges have been cut off, and you only get to watch the middle of the movie screen. A widescreen TV can display a widescreen movie without distorting or cutting off the image.

Widescreen is better than fullscreen. You may think that the black bars mean something is not there that should be, but that is not the case. What happens is on full screen, the image is streched to fill the black bars, and the ratio is kept. This means that the part of the image that filled the screen horizontally is now stretched offscreen and you cannot see it anymore.
