so...i'm guessing you never had AV? get ESET....

    http://www.eset.com/download/free-trial/smart-security

you gotta have an e-mail to receive the trial key....it should detect and remove them all....

That is what it does. You probably went to a site that said your computer was infected and you need to download their software.

Try looking through your software and trying to find some program that wasn't there before. Either that or try downloading avast antivirus and doing a boot-time scan.

I've had that thing before. :) Good times.

Which "antivirus" program keeps popping up?

Thank you, I'll give it a go.

Problem is, this is my pa's computer. We all go on it, so things are constantly added and taken off.

    It's a blast.

    "AV Security Suite".

Did that as soon as I posted, actually.

Sorry for the waste of time, but thank you.

That bugger was annoying, had to go from computer to computer, but for now it's gone.

    Thank you, gentlemen.

scareware always is. the last one I had to deal with was internet antivirus, and no matter what I did I couldn't get rid of it entirely (the owner didnt want the computer reformatted). I was rather relieved when his hard disk crapped out and had to be replaced.
