I modded my Playstation 2 the day (Disc cover sensor mod, if you would like to know how to do this, just contact me) so I could play burnt PSX games on it and all of the burnt PSX games work except for one: Resident Evil 3. The game loads but only shows the cinematic demo. If you press any button during or after the cinematic demo, the screen goes dark, yet the disc continues to spin. I would appreciate it if someone could give me some advice on this. Thanks!

that type of mod is not realy ever ment to run psx games and if you do you're going to break ur laser the ps2 hates back-ups that are on cd or dvd+r it only likes dvd-r your laser will die soon just play psx games on pc with psx emulators. take my advise cause it will happen my ps2 doesn't run cd's anymore only dvd games. sucks realy lol

Did you have the 1st generation PS2 slim? because that model had a defective laser, which might have been the problem, and if you're right, that does suck... ;D

nope... you're greatly wrong there, my friend... i have my ps2 since august 2005, chipped it right when i got it, been giving it some 5 hours a day during my vacations, and two hours a day during school time, and it has twice been turned on, playing smackdown vs raw 2006, for an entire week... guess what??... it's working as if i got it yesterday...

No, all I did was the sensor block mod. Y'know so I could swap discs. ( FOR PSX GAMES) I don't have Swap Magic, but I might get it...

gues what thats a dvd game numb nuts i was talkin about back up cds and +r dvds if your ps2 is that new then i prob will live longer. i was just saying the ability to read cd's died it still reads dvd games fine just not cd's. then again my ps2 is old i got it when they first came out. stop trying to make an argument asshole i was just warning him as he will be using cd's nothing may even happen it was just a warning and i can't be wrong as every forum in the word talks about laser stres and sugests you use high quality dvd-r's like verbitam ect. thats why people have made ways to put cd games on dvd and thats what i have to do now if the game is cd (long process) luckly they don't put games on cd anymore.
by the way if your going to try and correct someone don't tell them that you spend all your free time playing game makes you look like you have no friends.

so back to the original guy nothing may even happen just a warning as it DOES cause laser stress but it may never break (funny cause all playstation products are the only sony product that still works after its warrenty) its also worth getting swapmagic its awsome and worth getting the flip lip

Stop trying to start a flame war, equitypetey, there is no call for that sort of abusive language. The internet is full of crap as well as useful information, so just because every forum you've looked at states something that does not necessarily make it a fact.

I would also suggest you do your research before making generalisations such as the one about Sony products, I have never had a Sony product fail, out of 2 laptops, 2 PS2s, a PSone and 2 camcorders among other products, and none of them are new or in warranty.
