The game shows the "This game contains scenes of explicit violence and gore" screen and then nothing happens. It's just frozen there. I'm using ePSXe 1.7.0, petes openGL2.9, and 'Nice' settings.

Just asking, the rom is from here, correct?

And are you using epsxe to run it directly, using a virtual driver, or did you burn it off as a disc...

Or do you own the real thing :)

(By that the disc-the emu can run them-just asking to ensure you get proper help.)

    The rom is from here

I tried running it as an ISO from ePSXe directly AND running the .ccd file with a virtual driver. And I tried inserting the disc from my own copy of the game and using the Run CDROM option. No luck in either case.

So all 3 options you tried have the same problem-all stopping at the same place?

Have any other psx games worked at all?

There may be a slight chance of your pc not being able to run it...

I've already played a number of games just fine with this ePSXe setup, including Resident Evil: Director's Cut

    Nice game isn't it :)

Unfortunatly, I'm at a total loss...

The best option may be to wait-I've yet to have that problem...

(Probably because I have the gamecube version XD -I do hope someone with more experience can help :) )

It does work on epsxe-which is the best ps1 emulator-that one you listed is only for the 10 incompatible games...of which this is not.

Try these...see if they help...un-related but it may help somewhat...

    -turning off sub-channel reading

    -Enable accurate CDROM timing

Those are meant for sound issues...but it's worth a shot-this issue seems to be an uncommon one.

-For Resident Evil 2 use ePSXe 1.52, ePSXe 1.7.0 is the cause of the freezes

Use an older version of epsxe-some compatibility was lost in some updates.

Try it-keep the exsisting files of 1.7.0, but have the main executable along side the 1.7.0.

Yep-you can effectifly run both versions at the same time-this is what I done before.

But you may have to reconfigure them both...but it's worth a go-apparently.

    I thought P.E.Op.S. Soft driver 1.18

was the fastest and best yet!

    its actually the slowest.

    Anyhow, try ePSXe 1.6.0

But according to a google search, it's a compatibility issue with 1.7.0 of epsxe, not the plugin.

The one you suggested apparently works fine, but it's...not as easy to use-and I know from experince :(

well I tried epsxe 1.5.2 executable and the game runs now. But now I have a different problem; no sound at all for videos/cutscenes, and no voices during dialogue (though I'm still getting sound effects and music in the game, weird)

    same thing with epsxe 1.6.0

Update: turns out I needed to turn on something called XA sound. And now the sound is fine. Don't know why that was off by default.

Stop all over programs that you might be using, Try Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41, Best for sound!

    What is your system specs?

ePSXe is a weard emulator to stop running, Even though you thought you stop runing the emualtor, I might be hidden, Try you task mgr press, Ctrl,Alt,Delete and see task mgr

If you see ePSXe still running disable it!

A few of them running all at ones , can cause it to slow way down!

    Are just resert your pc
