Resident Evil 2 ISO problem

Well I got the game to work perfectly fine, if I save through the save state option.

The old Resident Evil games require you to save through a typewriter (for those who didn't know) but when i try to save it through the emulator, the controls stop working no matter what i do and will not let me save that way.

It is really annoying as I wish to save my progress at the end to get on to Claire or Leon scenario B which I can't do with this problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

BTW I am using PSX 1.13.

use epsxe 1.7.0-that emulator isn't as good as this near perfect emulator.

You will need a bios (if you didn't know-not familier with your option) but it's worth it.

Well with Epsxe, I can't load a game at all, it just doesn't work dispite downloading zlib.dll and configuring all the plugins.

I just tested saving to a memory card on another game, and that worked fine, it just doesn't respond to the buttons in RE2.

Is there a way to fix this for PSX emulator?

It should work-it's one of the (thankfully) more compatible games.

Well with epsxe-where did you put zlib.dll?

And what did happen when you tried it?

In the root folder is where I but the zlib.dll

    It just crashed on me.
    Froze up.

How many times have you tried it?

(sorry to duck your question-the mods would have said the same thing funny enough about epsxe)

zlib1.dll must be in the epsxe folder. (where epsxe.exe is)

By root do you mean where looney said or another root folder ie desktop or something.

Gotta be in with the rest :)

    ...how odd, it crashes...

May I ask what bios your using?

Man this one is a tough one :(

    I am using SCPH1001.

Another reason I don't really like using Epsxe, is the fact I have been told it is hard to change discs, which is a reason I used PSX.

Once I have bene through a game I use the xploder and just go through with a grenade launcher blowing things up.

It's not hard-it depends on what game though...

This is easy-just load up the second disc/iso via "change disc" option-unlike othergames you only really need the save to continue I believe.

It's metal gear or final fantasy games that are annoying...

    But anyway...

What plugins are you using-and what is your graphics card-it may help.

It's not power-it's just plugin usage-some plugins work best with certain cards and don't crash...as often (in my past cases)

hmm, have you tried ePSXe 1.6.0? some games work better on that version. Also make sure there's no 'special fixes' needed in pete's openGL driver, some games wont work without special fixes enabled.

I'm sure RE 2 should work fine on 1.7.0...I only use 1.6.0 for gundam battle assualt 2.

I thought pete's plugins were specific for certain cards-I run ati and it's been flawless since I tried it.

Right, it works on 1.6.0 BUT has some major graphics problems.
On the Xploder everything appears half way up the screen, so I can only see the bottom half of what is meant to be there.
With Resident Evil, the title text is non existant, the movies screw up by blurring and jittering.

pete's opengl is nvidia only, yes

    Question-what is xploader-a cheat device-software?

(prehaps change the settings a tad-1.6.0 is not much different from the later-change the graphic plugin setings-find what suits you until it works)

Not sure about the petes opengl.

Yes Xploder is a cheat device. I got the ISO for it.

....Just asking-have you tried without loading that up?

I normally hate cheat's with emulators-too many headaches.

(In some versions there is a mode where you get a rocket launcer-machine gun and gattling gun infinute ammo from start-no cheats or anything to unlock-forgot name but dual shock version may have it...arrange mode or something ???)
