Browsing the DS ROM list, i've come across several which have been removed due to cease & desist letters being issued. From what I can tell, these are mainly SEGA and Nintendo owned games and franchises, with the companies closing in on proteccting their IP's. I was wondering if we could have a complete list of all the games which have been removed from the servers for this reason, and also any updates as to when other games are removed?
well i guess we should start off with the sims games sonic the chronicles of the dark brotherhood mario & sonic at the Olympic games and the winter version
Instead of compiling a half-assed list ourselves, maybe we could ask Seph? Also, this is a fantastic idea.
Because it would help us find all the ones NOT on RU without having to scour lists and such. Even if you could just put the #'s if you have to, it would be helpful.
It may help prevent people going 'WHERE'S MY ROMS" every few post, they would still come but it's worth a shot. Just make it one of the tabs with "removed games" as the title, see how we go
Sorry but I do not see any problems this would solve, the page describing why the game was removed is clear enough, if people ignore it and come here to ask they're not going to bother with a list anyway.
It would save people from wasting their time clicking the ROM link in the first place, only to be disappointed by a "Sorry, but this OM has been removed" screen Also, say I were a new member here wanting to download a bunch of games, and started off by trying Pokémon Heart Gold and then Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games - I'd naturally assume that because two out of two didn't work, the possibility of many other ROM's on the site may not either... At least a list of all ROM's removed would provide us with some kind of an idea to the extent of the damage, and as stated above in another post, it would serve to prevent other threads asking where the ROM's have gone I'm not sure what the problem here is to be honest. What harm can posting a list do? We can do this the easy way (Seph gives us a list of the games removed), or the hard way (We compile a list ourselves). If nothing else, it would be interesting to see the trends
Re: Removed \'Cease & Desist\' DS ROM\'s Actually I got a better idea... Keep the page the same as it is, even the system, but list the other roms removed as well, it may help those trying to download games that have been removed from finding other games that have been removed. And or make the removed games listed in RED writing and prehaps edit the listing name to include "this has been removed", if they do click it'll go to normal "removed" page. Post Merge: [time]1272189081[/time] It wold have to be one of us, I have the U version of the new pokemon games...but my links would be in slow rapid share.
This is not possible, as I also said the last time this was suggested, it's a keyword based prevention, there is no list of specific games which aren't available, only keywords which cannot be in the game name.
I was thinking of just a list of the current games not available, that could be updated when needed. ...I'm kinda lost by your response so I'm just gonna take it as a no and save you some time.
What he means is we have a list of words. If one of those words appears in the game name then its blocked
I still don't understand what that has anything to do with us making a list of removed games here in this thread? Are you saying certain games have been blocked and removed because they include certain keywords, such as "Sonic" or "Pokémon"? If that's the case, then why haven't others? :s It doesn't prevent us from creating our own list of removed games here in this thread though. We've already made a start, so all we need to do is make a list of known games which cannot be downloaded and then just upate it whenever we stumble upon another. Or if the Admin's could make it easier for us and just give us a list of the games which have been removed, and then just announce in the thread everytime another game has been taken offline, then that would make things much easier!
