Release numbers?

    ok, I'm still fairly new to this whole scene and I'm a bit confused. I recently noticed that 3 different download sites have totally different release numbers for the NDS roms. What's up with that? Everyone seems to agree up to about 0460 then all the sites go off by a 1 or 2 number difference...

    Reason I'm wondering is because of Tank Beat mostly. Romulation doesn't show a US version as even existing. As you can see in this list copy pasted:

    You can see G-masters and NDS-roms show 1119 - Tank Beat as being USA? and don't list a Euro version at all...

    What's up with that? I know there's a US version cause I see it for sale here in the US.

    Just wondering what the heck I downloaded lol. Not that it's a big deal, the game isn't that good anyhow. Just curious and confused.

    Anyone have some insight into the whole release number thing? Any clarification as to how this all works would be appreciated.

    Release numbers are not part of the NDS scene. It's something added by people with absolutely nothing to do with the scene. They each follow different rules as to what constitutes a release, g-masters and nds-roms both follow a list that has "Max Media Launcher" as a release, in our opinion it is an xxxx release, not a retail game or application.

    On tank beat that's my bad, must have rushed it when uploading cause it is USA, not Europe.

    ahh cool. I loathe max media launcher and all of datel so I automatically prefer romulation's list. I totally agree that's not a game nor does it make any sense to be in the list.

    I always come here first for downloads anyhow. Way faster and better site imo which is why I asked here what this was about and not on those "other" sites lol. I just ended up over there cause of the whole tank beat thing. Then I got confused.

    Oh, and cool about tank beat. Even though it's not a very good game at all heh. I've seen worse though that's for sure.
