okay, i got an american version of a game for my european version ps2 and i didnt know about the region lock. is there anyway to bypass this without having to mod my ps2 like an add on or disk?
Nope. And even if it was Modded or using a boot disk, you would run into other issues. Like there being no color for your games. If you try to play NTSC games on your PAL system, it will not decode the color information correctly and you will get black and white. This is because one of the biggest differences between NTSC and PAL TV systems is how the color information is stored and displayed. Maybe someone else will have some info about PS2 backup playing, but I'm pretty sure you need to either Mod your PS2 with a chip, or need to use a Boot Disk. (Like a "Swap Magic") Edit: Oh, I thought you meant a method besides modding or using a boot disc. But yes, if you don't want to Mod your system, you can get ahold of a boot disc like Swap Magic.
no. The problem happens because the US and most of the rest of the world use fundamentally different colour encoding. either you buy a PAL game, or an NTSC PS2, and if you choose the latter option you make sure your TV can display NTSC signals, or you buy a converter (v. expensive).
unable to send it back but the game i have also supports pal so where can i get a swap disk in £? i did some background on it and it seems to work.
