recover files from a HDD

    i have an LG external HDD HXD5 and all of a sudden my pc does not recognize it, and it makes wierd noises (as if it were scratching or something). is there a way to recover my files from it or fix it?

    depends. If its headcrashed then no.

    by the noises it made when it happened. If it sounded like glass shattering then it headcrashed. Also if it now sounds like a motor with no load.
