Recording with Fraps: Low fps.

I get low fps sometimes when recording with fraps. I record Combat Arms, a mmofps game. I usually record 100 fps when I am not recording. When I do record, I get 30 fps.

    Gaming rig:
Processor: Intel Core i7 (quad core) cpu @ 2.67GHz
    Memory: 6GB RAM
    Hard Drive: 500 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series 1GB
    Motherboard: EVGA X58 SLI

My computer is less than a year old.

What can I do to increase fps? Another graphic card perhaps?

fraps significantly drops your framerate when recording, its normal.

Yes, but I know people who plays the same game as I do, but they can record with more fps than me. How can I make it better?

Please refrain from using internet shorthand such as "idk" and "u" as it is against the Forum Rules.

And I really don't think the average Fraps recorder has a rig better than the one the OP described.

And 100 fps is good. :-\

I mean 100 fps when not recording. When I do record, I get about 30 fps. It really messes up my sniping.

30fps is a perfectly acceptable framerate.

You really can't tell the difference past that. It's what NTSC televisions output at. Approximately.

Dude, 30 is fine, and your 6 GB of RAM is truly awesome. I think sniping is better without the extra FPS going on everywhere. Fraps is terrible for recording, as it drastically drops your frame rate. I use Xfire's recorder, but then the quality is lessened, and WeGame is watermarked, but okay, I guess.

only 6GB is awesome? wonder what my soon to be 16GB is then :p

On another note, you could try camtasia studio.

Can 64-bit even support 16 GB? haha, that's cool, too. SPEED!

64 bit supports up to 16EB, in theory, but in windows its limited to 128GB for windows XP and 1TB for windows 2003.

You can try recording with XFire

You know you can set fraps to record higher than 30 fps, or lower if you'd want to. There's an option to change that in the "Movies" tab.
But recording in 60fps doesn't usually do any difference unless you're going to replay something in slow-motion.

Your monitor refresh rate will usually go up to 60 fps, so anything above that doesn't make any different. In fraps, you can change setting to record 60 fps instead of 30.

Trust me, it messes up my sniping when recording 30 fps.

Basically the answer I want is what to upgrade my computer with. Get a better processor? Buy another Graphics card? Get more ram?
