    Hellos.

I want to test out some OS as I am making a log of my experience with OS'.

    The ones I've tried:
    Windows series:
    - Windows 7
    - Windows Vista
    - Windows XP
    - Windows 2000
    - Windows 98 SE
    - Windows 98
    - Windows 95
    - Windows 3.1
    Linux series:
    - Ubuntu
    - CentOS (certainly not worth the effort, you are better off with Ubuntu)
    - Fedora

    Well, any recommendations?

PS I have a limited amount of disk space (exactly 56 GB left on the laptop) right now so please no big ones.

I will find out where to get them. Don't post links.

I didn't like CentOS and Fedora anyway.

    Will try those.

Will also try those..but don't post all Linux distributions please. I have disk space to spare.

Looking at BeOS it certainly isn't the right OS for me.

You know I'm also searching for a primary OS on my own computer?

Windows, you don't have the knowledge required to use anything else.

I need something else. Not Windows.

And I'm not gonna install it myself anyway.

Whats wrong with windows? It does everything you need, its easy to use and theres a billion people with knowledge of it incase you do come across a problem.

Yeah I could always use VM's, though.

But I need a fast Linux system, and VM's don't suit that need.

My computer is not meant for games. It's meant for business things.

I'm not a PC gamer at all.

I know how to use it.

I need a reasonably fast Linux distribution for school. I make a log of my expirience with Linux there (need to, don't want to).

For gaming, well some games there's the WINE thing that make Windows's games run in Linux Operating System, but if you don't care about games too much...

If you like Mac, you can buy the Snow Leopard Retail Upgrade disc and you can still install it on a PC with a guide, the only problem is that it takes a couple of hours to configure the right drivers.

Nah I'm not gonna buy anything to be honest ;)

I know about Wine. Though it doesn't work that well in a virtual machine.

If it works well in a Virtual Machine I will install it tomorrow on my own desktop.
My desktop doesn't seem to be able to handle Windows 7 in a virtual machine.

wine lacks directx so it cannot run many games

Your computer is barely capable of running windows 7 natively...
