I haven't had anything new to play recently and I was going through my room and so somefun games I used to play, Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, Dark Cloud 2, Beyond Good and Evil, Persona 3 And Psychonauts. I found these games fun since they are not your typical rpgs. Ar tonelico had the whole music thing besides the battles and dungeon crawling, DC2 had the building thing and taking pictures and inventing, BGAE had the whole spy thing going on, Persona had the social links and stuff besides the battling and Psychonauts was just plain fun. So I was wondering if there were any similar games to these on the PSP or DS?. And that can you also recommend me some not so typical RPG, something more than just dungeon crawling and battles something with other things to do. I need something new and fun to play.

They didn't ask for projectile diarrhea.

    Try Mass Effect 1 & 2, they're pretty good.

PSP and DS games please :p I find playing RPG's on the computer incredibly difficult. I'm not the type of person who has good hand eye coordination

-Well the Tales series is typical RPG fare, but it had a interesting battle system to spice things up. (Well, compared to the traditional menu RPGs anyway. There's a fully translated English version for the Tales of Innocent one.

    - Rune Factory 3 (DS) has a combination RPG-dungeon crawling and simulation elements. You run a farm in a homebase, and there's also r/s development with the villagers + wooing girls.

-Atelier Annie (DS) is basically like Ar Tonelico with more focus on synthesizing items and less revytail action. (Made by NIS too, but with an alchemy-based storyline)

More later. I can't think of any more right now.

Try Crysis Core (PSP) if you haven't already. Quite a different RPG with a fun battle system.

Don't know if you're into tactical RPGs but Disgaea on the PSP and Fire Emblem for the DS\GBA are both good series. FF Tactics (PSP) is also excellent, but can be daunting to someone new to the tactics genre.

Knights in the Nightmare may be what are you looking for, definitely not a typical rpg.
It's on both Ds and Psp, control of course feels better on Ds, but Psp one looks better, sounds better, and has some extra stuff, cause it was released not so long time ago.

And if you never played Disgaea, get it on psp. First part has funnier story and some more memorable characters, but second has more polished and expanded gameplay.

Megaman BTN and Star Force Series?
May sound childish, but the whole chip collection and battle systens is worth it after you learn to play it.

I also recommend Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for PSP. That is an amazing game with a unique playstyle as well.

Atelier Annie seems fun, Rune Factory hasn't caught my attention but will try it later

Crisis Core was ok but I didn't like FF VII so much so yeah. I've played and finished Disgaea and FF Tactics, fun games.

Tried Knights in the nightmare before, it was fun until it become over complicated. DS version had better handling and controls

I tried this before, I found it boring :| It wasn't how I imagined it to be.

If you're up for a PC game, I'd recommend Deus Ex, it's quite old so should run well enough.

Try out a Fire Emblem game, they're nice non-standard tactical RPGs. You could try Onimusha Tactics (I think that's what it's called) for GBA, I didn't like it that much but others I know have loved it.

shin megami tensei series on ds were made by the same ppl who did persona so you get the monster aspect of the game

might and magic clash of heroes - more a strategy game which you might like since I've played and own the same games you've mentioned (loved DC 2!) ;)

and as someone else said Rune Factory 3 is a good choice

Wonder Project J on the SNES is quite interesting. Defenitely the strangest enix RPG I've played. It's like pinocchio meets an RPG meets a pet sim, except the "pet" is the main character, a robot boy, and you have to teach him EVERYTHING. worth a play IMO. But can get really frustrating sometimes.
