This is a configuration issue, make sure you're using pete's DX7 for graphics, use the 'nice' defaults and check the 'fixes' section of the plugin config

Definitely try Xenogears, I absolutely love that game. Some others might be Tales of Destiny, Tales of Eternia (Tales of Destiny 2 in some parts of the world), or Breath of Fire 3 and 4. There are just too many good RPGs for PlayStation...

Besides Xenogears(haven't played it yet so I can't speak for it) I'd recommend all of above mentioned. Star Ocean would be another good one to try as well.

ff8 won't emulate perfectly (comparing it to the PC version and on the PSX) but you can fix most things.

i get a weird skip when i enter a random battle, but thats about it.

you really should just get the PC version, it is a lot better than the PSX version on an emulator.
i have FF7 and FF8 for the PC and they look better than it could ever look on a PSX.

does Diablo count as an 'RPG?'
or are you looking for a more Squaresoft RPG?

I have both and they're straight ports. It even tells you to press circle or square in places. The graphics are no different to the PSX ones.

must be the european version. mine say to press Ctrl, A, X, D, S, and whatnot.

the graphics are a little different.
the FMVs are worse on PC (because they were made for '97-'98 computers) compared to the PSX, but the actual game graphics are a little crisper on the PC.

I believe mine are the US versions, don't think they were released in Europe. For most part, the keys are correct for PC, however the occasional instruction is wrong, like it was inadvertantly missed when porting.

I've never seen it say press O or [ ] or any other PSX button.
i would love to see a screenshot so i can see if mine does it at the same place.
which reminds me... what functions are the R2 and L2 buttons for FF7 and FF8?
because I won't have those when I put them on my PSP.

well there's a big difference between diablo and ff7 for example.

diablo, gauntlet legends, etc. pretty much have no story, and are mostly dungeon crawling RPGs.

any square RPG is more story oriented.

    i love gauntlet legends.
i had the one for n64 and i had a hacked sumner with 65339 thunder hammers, 101 keys, max stats, etc.

i never ever saved with him, and i would run my friends through the last level so they would get a halo...and be lv 30.

seriously? I read some reviews saying that these were utter crap, but their latest installment is the best so far and well deserving.

I guess it's all a matter of opinion really...
