ok, my ps3 was YLODing the other day, and i think it's cuz of using a shitty television, and my ps3 was trying to hard to keep a clear picture. It's the launch 80 gig model that's backwards-compatible. i've already opened it before this most recent incident and swapped the original thermal paste for Arctic Silver 5. I tried doing the hair dryer quick fix shown in this video, and it's worked perfectly fine several times.

Aaaaaanyways, the main question- when i took it apart this time, i exposed the thermal paste. do i need to clean it and reapply, or just push them back together?

(also, of course only after taking the whole bugger apart did i think of this, but i'm gonna check if the YLOD was actually coming from the disc drive having jumped in the process of maybe trying too hard. at any rate, the above question still applies)
