or you can get a tv tuner card, which is probably the better option considering how much bandwidth streaming video uses.

I second the TV Tuner card option, but only if you don't have a TV, or your setup is WAY better than a TV. Anyways, if you just want to watch the shows, then download the episodes via youtube/torrents.

you need at least a 6mbit internet connection for decent internet TV...

Alternatively there's always USB TV tuners...

Yeah I don't use it myself sorry. Yeah if you have Windows Media Edition, you can use the program in there which works. Or you can use the freeware option MediaPortal I think, it might run on Linux though. Got all of this from PC User ;)

Streaming TV/ other web content uses up a LOT of bandwidth I don't have with my shit connection. So, I mainly turn uTorrent on at night and DL my movies/shows from there.

Also if your Internet access is capped i.e. 40Gb/month, be careful so you don't incurr extra charges by your ISP

Well different people use the web differently. Personally, I have an unlimited package becuase I download an awful lot of stuff, watch videos online and sometimes play games online. The point is, web TV does eat away at your allowance pretty quickly, especially if it's high quality.

I didn't even know that there was a cap to how much you download/upload.

Some ISP's put a limit. Then when you reach the limit you have to pay extra (usually). But only some ISP's do that, mines unlimited (thank god).

mine limit you to 128Kb/s for the rest of the month if you go over.
