Re: Can't download roms?

Discussion in 'Site Support' started by TacticalStrykeFan, Apr 11, 2010.

  1. I've downloaded a few games today and unpacked them as usual. Placed them in my card (r4) but when iload up my DS the files arent showing. Is my card glitching or is that the fault of this site? I've tried both servers as well. same problem for both. I even redownloaded them to be sure and the problem persists.

Which games, and what firmware do you have?

It's most likely the card or your MicroSD card that is having an issue since noone else is complaining about them not working.
If this is something new then it could just mean you need to format your mSD card and reload everything. (backup all your files, format the card, reload all the games and such back on it.
Don't do it just yet since you should get other people's advice first though.

Also i have found that if you post too many games in one folder that they wont show all of them.
Try doing like i do and keep them in alphabetical folders. (A-D, E-H, etc...)
It keeps the amount of games per folder down to a working level usually.

  4. oh ok. your last bit of advice actually makes a lotta sense. ive got an 8 gb card and 57 games in one folder. i'll try the alphabetical order thing. Thanks man.

    Nonsence?
You can put as many games in one folder, as much as your card holds.

They do not like it, but you can put as many in

Just because you can put them all in there does not mean the card can read them.
I Have had this problem many times and i know what i am talking about.

Yes, there is a limit to the number of files that will be displayed in a single folder. Even on the high end cards. I think the CycloDS won't display over 128 games (It's a programmed limit though, I believe). Not sure what the limit is on other games. But personally having more than 50 games in a single folder would seem unorganized to me.

I create a folder for each game in my games folder (just like my nephew does), but I have tons (and if I say tons, I mean tons) of homebrew where I don't create a folder for, it is actually very organized and they are over 200, my R4 SDHC can view them fine.
