I hear the people in tech help are where it's at.

I have an R4i Upgrade, from what I've been able to read, is already a bad start. That aside, i'm having a difficult time getting things started.

    I have a R4i Upgrade Revolution for DS (V1.4)
    Sandisk 2gb micro sd
    DS lite

A person gave me the link to download the correct firmware. I extracted the data.

    The folder is "Eng"

In that folder are there folders, "moonshl", "skin" and "SYSTEM" and a file named, "r4i.tp"
All of this stuff is on the root part of the sd card.

I have my game files in a seperate folder.

When i place the r4 card in my DS i get a black screen that says loading in white letters. It never moves past this screen.

What is my next step? Thank you very much everyone.

First off, thank you very much for the follow up. I appreciate it so much.

Now, I watched the video and saw a stupid error that I made... I didn't have it formatted to FAT32.

However, i reformatted it to FAT 32 and I still get the black loading screen.

I'm not sure how i'm still screwing up, lol.

    Thank you again,
    Crisys

You got the COMPLETELY wrong firmware.

    You have a SYSTEM folder.
The official firmware for this card is an R4iMenu folder.

    The files in the package:
    ) R4iMenu
    ) R4.dat
    ) moonshl2
    ) moonmemo

    Site: www.r4i-sdhc.com

    Download the 1.17b firmware.

You now must get it working ;)

Are you sure you have the right firmware?

The "R4i Upgrade Revolution" with version 1.14 sticker should be Firmware version V1.17b

    from this site:

    http://r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp

(Sorry just noticed the above post says all this.... :-X)

Try that if you aint already got it....

and it helps if you format using Panasonic SD Formatter... it does a better job than windows...

I tried the firmware you suggested Yoshi and I still get the black loading screen.

the website on the flashcard itself is, r4-v.com

Is it possible i have a busted card or something?

No. Download a lower firmware number (like if there is 1.17b get 1.12b) and try again.

Have you tried the firmware that you can download from r4-v.com?

Yes, i've tried that firmware, the 1.45 version and i get the black loading screen

Please forgive apparent internet /fail abilities, but i can not find a lower version such as 1.12b on r4i-sdhc.com

I do not mean the firmware on that site, but pick an lower firmware on your card's site.

Im sure if www.r4-v.com is on your card then that is where you find the firmware you need.

There is a confusing choice of firmwares for you im afraid... i have looked

Diffrent firmware for different colour PCB's (printed circuit boards)

Check the colour you have (the colour of the plastic where the gold connectors are) and try the corresponding firmware...

Failing that... just keep trying all the firmwares working down the page that are english (This is what Yoshi has suggested these are previous firmwares)

    Up and running.

Yoshi, thank you for the direction and guidance.

Yeah, it took me some trial error runs of the firmware from r4-v.com If i had read your post about fifteen minutes ago it would have been salvation. I ended up using the green/yellow pcb (which i had no idea what pcb meant) and it booted right up.

Thank you to all three of you who helped me out, it is much appreciated.
